Storm!

Just a quick note for all who check the website today - there's probably a good chance, due to the storm, that I'll not make it down to Sunday School tomorrow. If I cannot make it, you'll be watching more of the History of Christianity DVD series. Next week I'm on call, so we will take up the issue of St. Augustine and the Pelagian controversy first weekend in February.

Class, 1/16

Being absent from class this week, I forgot to assign reading. The plan is to talk about the Council of Nicea this week, and we will be reading the Arian Creed and the Nicene Creed. I'll try to post links for them later for those of you who check the site. I'll also try to bring copies to class with me on Sunday morning.

Please bring any questions that were raised by the video last week.

History of Christianity DVD

This week, in my absence from class, you'll be watching some selections from A&E's Christianity: The First Thousand Years. You'll be exposed to some "liberal" interpretations of Christian history. For example, John Dominic Crossan, a prominent member of the Jesus Seminar, is interviewed frequently. It would be a good idea to bring a pen and paper and write down questions that you may have from watching the video.

I'll be back in class January 16, and hopefully we'll be able to start talking about the Council of Nicea.
